Anti-human rights

Uganda’s government has outraged human rights activists locally and internationally. Its strong anti-LGBT laws have deeply offended human rights. As NAD reported, the Kampala UN Human Rights has been shut down after 18 years. It stated that “most of the 54 NGOs that were ‘arbitrarily suspended’ in 2021 remained closed.”

This hostility created an ominous environment, with its persecution outpacing other African states that have expressed ill will against homosexuals. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Voelker Tuerke,  is also quoted as concerned for human rights activists in civil society and journalism during the forthcoming 2026 election.

Such persecution is unjustified and defies the equality and diversity of all humans as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. All humans are free and entitled to every respect and dignity. Hopefully, the UN campaign for equal rights and fair treatment should enlist the solid support of many!
